New York, New York

I recently had the pleasure of visiting New York City for the first time in my life. I've wanted to get out there for a while, but I just now got around to it. It was a lot of fun and I took a lot of photos. I did try to cut back on the photos a little bit and just be in the moment and experience some things without snapping photos as often.

The first day out there, it was raining all day so we tried to go to MOMA. There were way too many people so we decided against that. We walked around for a little while, got some lunch at Lindy's, and tried to wait out the rain. Well, it didn't look like it was going to stop until 5pm, so we went and played some pool for a few hours. After that we stopped in New York Beer Company to grab a drink. I was getting pretty antsy for a reason that I will get to in a moment. After having a beer, we started walking to go check out Central Park. We walked through part of Times Square, and got to see a few other attractions on the way. When we finally got to the park, we walked around for a bit until we came to a quiet little bridge where nobody was around. This is were I proposed to my girlfriend, Kate. This is the reason that I was getting so antsy. Anyways, she said yes and it couldn't have turned out any better.

The first day was the day, that I really wanted to turn out well. I was able to sit back and relax the rest of the trip. We tried to keep the normal tourist attractions to a minimum, but we did get to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, see the World Trade Center footprints, sail by the Statue of Liberty (and the rest of NYC), and more. We went to a couple of punk rock shows, had dinner on a boat, checked out the old CBGB, had some slices of pizza, etc. All in all, we had a great time, and I have a lot of photos to prove it. Here are just a couple.

Keeping Things Interesting

I have been keeping very busy over the past few months with  shooting a lot of real estate listings and more. As things start to wind down in the real estate market, I have still managed to keep busy, and even mix it up a little.

I have been doing some product shots, portraits, and some events here and there. My most recent project was shooting a photo booth for New Belgium Brewing at the 2014 Beer Hoptacular. The event took place at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, IL with over 50 breweries participating. They had a lot of amazing and hilarious props to go along with some delicious beer.

I had a blast along with everyone else who participated. I got to try all of New Belgium's beers and take photos all day. What more could I ask for?

Photography has opened up a lot of doors for me, and I have gotten to experience a lot of new and interesting things because of it. Just this year alone, I have traveled across the US and Canada taking photos. I can't wait to see what's next, and where it might take me in the future.

A day in Sherbrooke, Quebec

I have been in Quebec for the past couple of days on a shoot. It has been a great opportunity and a fun experience.

The shoot took a full 10 hours plus some, but I had last night and most of the day today to explore Sherbrooke. It's a pretty nice town. Almost everything is in French and everyone is speaking it so I don't know what is going on most of the time. That's okay with me though.

Last night, I got to check out Siboire, a microbrewery located inside the town's old train station. I had some fish and chips, and tried a few of their beers which were really tasty. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the service was excellent.

Today, I did a lot of driving around the town to see everything. I made a few stops, and walked around to take some photos too. The image below is a photo of the Fabrique Saint-Jean Baptiste. I saw the church from a distance and had to drive to to check it out.

Tomorrow, I plan to head to Montreal to hang out until my flight back to Chicago. It's been fun, but it's always good to get home. I'll be in Chicago for a night and then I drive to Missouri the next morning to visit my family. That's home too. It will be nice to see everyone and relax a little bit.

Touring Chicago

There are a lot of places to see in Chicago, and sometimes I feel like I neglect some of the tourist areas. I was recently on an assignment to capture different locations around Chicago, and most of them were go to spots for tourists.

I've been to these spots before, but it was actually a lot of fun to see everything again. There was even an exhhibit that I had been meaning to check out, and I was finally able to. I went to the Shedd Aquarium, the "Bean", Navy Pier, and more. It was kind of a reminder of everything that Chicago has to offer. It's good to revisit areas, because they change over time and you might notice things you never noticed before.

Here are a couple photos from the spots.
